Its colourful, the décor is brilliant, even the walls talk.  A twenty-something crowd makes up a majority of the restaurants patrons.  I’m quickly guided down a row of communal tables into a comfortable booth.  A lively environment and energetic servers complete this trendy, nicely designed restaurant chain.  To my surprise the food does not reflect the show – its bland, dry, and lacking soul.  Sure you can spice your food up to 20 chilis (may cause upset stomach), dine for an astonishing $10, and leave with leftovers – alas, this is not enough.  It was really hard for me to find a dish at Salad King that I could say I was fond of.  Stay away from the mango salad, its sour and tangy, lacking colour and sweetness. The ‘Phud Thai’ (Pad Thai) was pleasant but was in desperate need of seasoning.  The green curry was bright and intense.  Salad King overall is very commercial and in no way reflects the exquisiteness of tradition Thai cuisine.

ABOUT ME

I have lived in Toronto my whole life. I'm first generation German/Polish. My obsession with food began when I was young, watching my parents cook dinner, helping with barbeques. I try a new restaurant every week and I love to travel. There isn't anything I wouldn't try or do. I love sharing all my food adventures!
