Even though Cowbell has been around for 4 years, Mark Cutrara’s 30 seat French influenced bistro still hasn’t been able to steal my heart.  The menu is written on a chalkboard featuring seasonal entrees inspired by French and Canadian cuisine.  Insisting on butchering all of their meat on the premises, one would expect more attention to detail,  but that isn’t the case.  The sausages taste like they have been in the fridge for a week, and the duck has an unusually dry and bland texture.  Charcuterie plates include house-made pickles, a small selection of gamey cured meats and chocolate; which adds a slightly amusing twist.  Having had dinner here several times I have yet to leave satisfied.  But I have left with my purse feeling lighter.

ABOUT ME

I have lived in Toronto my whole life. I'm first generation German/Polish. My obsession with food began when I was young, watching my parents cook dinner, helping with barbeques. I try a new restaurant every week and I love to travel. There isn't anything I wouldn't try or do. I love sharing all my food adventures!
