This is one of those restaurants that’s addictive from the start. The heavy wooden door opens with cheers from staff, welcoming customers inside. Entertaining communal tables occupy most of the room. Seating at the bar is always a riot and four-tops are also available.
The menu is a sensory overload; take a few minutes to let it all sink in. My regular addictions include but are not limited to the following: zingy marinated octopus in wasabi stem Takowasabi; crispy, crunchy, take your breath away fried chicken Karaage; chopped salmon sashimi, crunchy garlicky chips mixed tableside with silky egg yolk Salmon Natto Yukke; marvelous sweet fried garlic soy intestine Horumon and finally spinach dressed in a sexy black sesame sauce Gomaae.
An excellent sake selection and mountain man sized pints of refreshing Sapporo quench the thirstiest appetites. Service is speedy and without blemish. And what’s better than a fond farewell from the kitchen staff to send you into the city’s dark night.
