The Kennedy Public House

The Kennedy Public House       416.769.3888    open daily lunch & dinner, brunch sat & Sun

This Bloor West Village eatery has one of the most sought after patio in the area – during the summer months of course.  The interior has been transformed into a gorgeous, slick looking room with black and white photos from the areas past adorning with walls.

One cannot start a good lunch without enjoying a great summer beer.  Kronenbourg Blanc is mild, with the perfect combination of bitter and sweet in a white beer.  I decided to order a few half price appetizers since my visit was during happy hour held from 3pm-6pm Monday to Friday.   Served warm Kennedy trails is a delightful bar snack, with seasoned and smoked almonds, pecans, cashews, roasted corn and Indian crisp.  Additionally, the Mussels Caponata Ragout is smooth with heat and intense with flavour.  The only missteps are the wings with a dry day-old texture and a slightly over-baked spiced red pepper hummus served with flat bread and crostini.

Families with young children start to pour in after 5pm (the owner wanted to make the bar kid friendly) and the place can get a little rowdy.  Cheerful servers hum around during food service.

If you’re dining in Bloor West Village, you must dine at Villa Restaurant. Our family lives in the village and we found them a few years back and have been regulars since. Try the fig pizza and you’ll see what I mean.
