Open since 2006 Kultura is still gorgeous, modern, and exotic. Wood fixtures and high ceilings give the space an edgy lodge-like feel. Chef Bernadette is the passion behind Kultura’s menu, pushing boundaries it has star power. The tapas style menu fuses French, Italian and Asian cuisines creating unusual flavour combinations that work incredibly well together. The trendy and hip atmosphere is the perfect first date place or the great way to wrap up a hectic day. The cocktail menu, as always, is awesome. If you’ve been here before you really need to check it out again.
Fresh Burrata on Crostini drizzled with balsamic glaze is cool and creamy – the perfect starter. Edible cornets filled with Ahi Tuna are spicy and crunchy, red miso is aromatic and opens the senses. The classic beef tartar coarsely chopped, topped with a quail egg is a delight.
The Mediterranean (fig and procutto) and Palak Paneer (earthy truffle and sweet honey) naans are fragrant and smoky from the tandoor. Roasted bone marrow with gremolata, smoked salt, white truffle mustard is garlicky and rich. Edamame with soybeans, miso and black bean sauce tastes like fries and gravy – finger lickin’ good. New Zealand smoked lamb rack with sesame dust and bashi is tender and light tasting (like Ontario lamb). The sous-vide beef tenderloin a buttery medium-rare served over astringent greens melts in your mouth.
Ending the evening: fois gras pulled pork belly tacos, crisp green apple rice cracker crusted chicken breast and satisfying Pinot Noir Pear Chutney, Aged Cheddar Mushroom Orecchiette. If you have a sweet tooth the Skor crème brulee dessert is the perfect last meal; nutty savory brulee combines with silky mint ice cream is pure delight.
