This is the spot for Gyros downtown Toronto. The unlicensed but pretty room – high wood tabletops and walls lined with olive jars – holds ambiance to a minimum. However, a large floor-to-ceiling window lets in a wonderful breeze and makes for a great Queen west people watching spot.
The food is well prepared. My Gyro dinner $14.99 arrives with fluffy rice, buttery potatoes, green salad, pita and tender, well-seasoned pork. One dish is never enough; a side of Grk fries $4.50 sprinkled with feta cheese, olive oil and salt are a crunchy favorite. Cretan salad $8.75 is a mountain of green white and red: arugula, red peppers, fantastic ripe olives, plump capers and crumbled feta are simply dressed in a a very good olive oil and vinegar. Greek croutons, on the other hand, are giant and difficult to eat.
