The room is dark and a bit exciting, reminding me of a spot in Brooklyn NY I once went to and had a fabulous time. I guess one could call the menu American especially when the special of the day is a chicken fried steak of a fluffy pancake topped with blueberry maple sauce – hits with the blueberry sauce and pancake but misses with the coating on the steak: thick and burnt to a not so tasty crisp. Tater tots are fluffy and soft like clouds and a must order with cheese, gravy and herbs. Crispy fried chicken is a miss, heavy battered to the extreme, looking dark (probably burnt – the lighting is low) however the sourdough waffles, sour cream, spicy maple, green onion tastes like morning glory.
And oh my, the slightly blackened caramelized brussel sprouts bathing in smoked cheese parmesan sauce, sprinkled with toasted mustard seed is a must, must, must! So I’m really not a fan of dessert unless its liquid, however, the red velvet funnel cake is dynamite topped with vanilla bean ice cream and red berries, bringing one to an orgasmic plateau. Oh ya and their drinks aren’t half bad either like the derby.
