From its simple beginnings of catering and wholesale, Oyster Boy has come a long way. I tried this spot long ago and left unsatisfied and slightly irritated. And then on one cozy evening inside the secret iYellow wine cave attending the Calvet Muscadet – and more event – my doubt was overcome by plump, salty Cascumpec bay oysters supplied by the one and only Oyster Boy. They were so incredible my friends and I had to have a few more and thirty minutes later were relaxing at a booth in the small, homey restaurant for some of the city’s freshest oysters. The place is rammed: servers dodge and weave carefully making sure each table is perfectly pleasured.
Very soon a multitude of oysters (cascumpec bay, beach angels, black pearl, wiley point) arrive, neatly displayed like jewels in a case. Next Sturgeon ceviche $12, a marinated dish of diced fish, crispy shallot, taro chips and yuzu dressing, is cool and crunchy. A loaded tuna tostada $16 topped with pickled onions, aioli, lettuce and diced tomato ends our evening with a pop of heat. Golden fries served with lime jalapeño and chipotle mayo are a sweet yet naughty afterthought……. Oh yaa
