Corner patio, love the rustic simple wood trimmings – an open kitchen is always a plus. Great neighborhood, this might be the spot for summer. Staff is so friendly, really a great first date place; wine pictured above is a, let’s just say, path to an awesome well-rounded evening (um, you know what I mean).
Mini muffins made from semolina, grilled corn, poblano, cheddar and honey butter start sweet then fade to a grainy savory cheddar. Jalapeno poppers crammed with Serrano ham, goat cheddar, lime crème, Pico de Gallo – way too f*cking spicy – I almost wanted to puke Food Dudes! On another note, fatty rib lamb belly, chimichurri, Greek yogurt, pine nuts and pickled things fall off the bone nicely together.
Drunken fish board: salmon lightly seasoned, Albacore Roma Caprese salad mirrors the traditional and then some, hot smoked white fish is my favorite out of the three being Polish it’s nostalgic. Bone marrow beef tartar, truffle snow (nice), parsley, dehydrated egg yolk served with grilled bread is such a letdown dudes – too little marrow too much in the beef tartar. Soft-shelled crab on a buttermilk bun with bacon jam, remoulade, iceberg is wonderful and must best dish of the evening.
Cabbage rolls Kaibi, mushroom, queso sauce, kimchi slaw vermicelli, loved everything about this dish except the chewy and dry beef, tisk tisk tisk. Chopped salad includes seasonal vegetables, quinoa, Macedonian feta, crispy chickpeas, and sumac; tastes so healthy, so many different components make this dish a winner.
I say skip desserts (citrus, ugh & chocolate, better but no cigar) , for now, until the kitchen gets its legs. Sorry but I had to say it.
