The second stop of my restaurant crawl brought me to CIBO. I’ve been meaning to hit this spot for some time and this sunny Sunday afternoon seemed like the perfect time. Right in the heart of King West, this corner patio, warmly decorated high ceiling interior is spacious and sexy. But how is the food? It’s actually really tasty! I was surprised that the former Alimento Fine Foods spot has its kitchen together. Servers are on the ball noting the very best off the wine and cocktail list.
First up, fluffy hot doughy bread baked in house, dusted with fresh rosemary and rock salt dipped in CIBO EVOO hits the spot. Grainy polenta fries, hot from the fryer melt the creamy-oh-so-good gorgonzola dip. Bruschetta hits the table, firm ripe Ontario tomatoes, so garlicky loaded on grilled crostini. Thick zucchini deep fried sided with artichoke with roasted red pepper and a lemon lime aioli is flawless. Finishing the evening with sultry seal-the-deal black tiger shrimp in a spicy wine garlic tomato sauce. And the curse is broken.
