It’s Indonesian and just newly opened – love the décor. We are promised skews and snacks, all so traditional, all so diverse – “creating unique but vaguely familiar richly fragrant cuisine”. Throughout the early afternoon, media/bloggers sampled tiny bites of dishes featured on the menu, however what little I sampled did nothing to impress my palate. I had a tiny bite of this, and a little bite of that – not enough to um, wet my appetite to return. Great concept but the food, ambiance and staff lacks magic and zeal for the …. Well everything.
Above signature cocktails: Ubud Hangout (Tanqueray Rangpur Gin, lime, Jalapeno black pepper syrup, cucumber, fresh cilantro and orange) and Little Brother (mount gay extra old rum, lime, Bandreck syrup, – housemade chai- Angostura bitters, mint and ginger beer).
Bites passed around: satay lilit (Balinese spiced chicken), satay babi (pork, peanut sauce), rendang taco (beef, coconut cream, lettuce, pickled red onion), ayam panggang (sweet chili grilled chicken, bean sprouts, green onion, cilantro), shrimp lettuce wrap (sambal, lettuce, coriander, cucumber pickle, crispy shallots), Balinese shredded chicken taco (lettuce, pickled cucumber, crispy shallots, sour cream), Babi Panggang (roasted pork belly, pickled bean sprouts, fresh chili sauce).
