After a long day of running around, my last errand found me at Ikon Hair Salon, picking up my soothing Davines shampoo and conditioner – that I can’t live without (it’s gold http://us.davines.com/ ). Besides being incredibly tired I was also starving and a tad on edge (Toronto traffic is the WORST). On the corner, for some reason Chipotle caught my eye – I’ve passed this spot countless times and never did I ever think to go inside. I watch the food network, I’ve seen the owner, Steve Ells in action and honestly I think he is the reason I stayed away from Chipotle, he seemed arrogant and pompous and that’s something I did not want to support. However, sometimes when one is hungry the brain takes over. Well I am glad for that because I was blown away! Note to self: do not judge a book by it’s creepy TV-personality-owner cover.
No table service or ambiance, just a sterile looking fast food restaurant. So wanna know what knocked my socks off? They are licensed to sell alcohol! And my margarita actually tasted pretty darn good! But the surprises don’t stop there. The menu is created with heatlh in mind, sourcing local fresh ingredients from ethical farmers who treat livestock with respect. My crispy steak taco topped with everything in sight still lingers on my mind and I cannot wait to come back for another. Takeout house-made corn chips are slightly rubbery, but that could just be a logistics thing cause the fresh garlicky salsa and buttery guacamole is more than memorable.
