I really thought this spot was more than what it really came to be: a tiny little takeout shack with rude, snobby staff and mediocre “Mexican Baja tacos”. Located right in the middle of Kensington Market one would think there would at least be an authentic from-the-heart-menu and that the owners/staff would reverberate that feeling – well don’t hold your breath. Who has been coming to this spot, their friends and family? Because it’s just another taco stand that has plumbing! What is with the bad attitude? I mean it was my first time in this un-licensed one table “restaurant”, so give me a minute. When I finally ordered I got that “whoa, a pretentious b*tch” feeling. Listen, I don’t want to drag on the totally rude vibe I got from this place, so let’s just see if the food worth all the fuss.
Tostadas ceviche, a mix of lime marinated seafood of the day isn’t bad, but it isn’t that impressive either. Baja Fish tacos, which today were a totally dry, fried and battered Mahi Mahi drizzled with a lackluster house made sauce, and blackened Mahi Mahi, grilled to a sawdust-like texture rubbed and rubbed with dry pepper (spice?). The only redeeming dish,a garlicky mushroom and cactus taco with squeaky, smoky grilled cheese. I say skip this spot, unless you like grainy, raw corn tasting tacos.
