I’m here and I like it again. Being named one of the 5 top speakeasy in Toronto, how can one not want to hideout in this spot? Walking down the interesting mirrored neon pink lit hallway to a tarot card reader sparks excitement – I love dark, secretive type drinking holes. Close friends and family joined me this evening for drinks and we ended up ordering everything off the new menu, which still has hits and misses.
The pork and shrimp meatballs arrived looking tasty with soy glaze and wasabi mayo, however are fully raw on the inside. I enjoyed the grilled iceberg salad with smoked almonds and buttermilk blue cheese dressing, and the crisp country fried quail sitting over cornmeal biscuits.
Almond cheddar mac n cheese, along with lobster fried rice and a bone-in lamb rack slider are under seasoned, salt would go a long way.
Tender beef cheek is lovely on a cornmeal pancake, sorrel syrup, and coconut slaw.
