Went to Fresh East at Erin Mills Town Center for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the authentic flavours of their (vegetarian) falafel. I say surprised because often, the restaurants inside a mall are more casual and less likely to be from scratch, and these flavours were spot on. The falafel balls were crisp and yet soft on the inside with a savory and delicious, familiar taste. The tahini and hummus were just the way I like – tangy, fresh, and smooth – so, so good!
The options for toppings and sauces were out of this world and were suited to the dishes they offered. There are multiple ways you can have the same sandwich at Fresh East – so smart. I had my falafel on a pita, but they even offer them on a sub! This is definitely going to be ‘next-to-try’ for me.
I also really enjoyed their veggie-friendly Baklava dessert which comes in a convenient take-home container. This was good because I was so full from the awesomely proportioned falafel that I had to take some home. The sweet honey and rich baklava pastry with hints of pistachio and almond shavings were a perfect and classic ending to our satisfying lunch.
