A friend of mine invited me to the Toronto Food and Wine Show . I’m like sure I want to go. I wasn’t going to write a post about it, probably just blast social media a little. But then when I got to the show I was impressed. A multitude of vendors, each so different from the next, though complementing each other at the same time. One product that seemed to stand out was this interesting, wholly natural product derived from grapes specially grown to produce Ice Syrup. These grapes are picked frozen in the depths of winter and then put through a process to capture the unique flavour-enhancing profile.
While Ice Syrup stands on its own as an excellent flavour enhancement for food and beverages, it has a number of ancillary benifits, a relatively ‘healthy’ sweetener. I used Ice Syrup to flavour my Soda Stream beverage, and balance my fried pork chop dinner.
FYI: Ice Syrup contains glutamates which bring out the umami taste and contain a number of antioxidants.
Love the taste of this product. I also believe in supporting Canadian companies. I know the pictures are not the best – I’m a total clutz and dropped my camera.
