The newest spot for the Banh Mi Boys is Lucky Red . And very red it is. The walls are splashed with (what looks like) a shiny Apple Red nail Polish. The modern décor reminds me of a Queen West version of Susur’s Luckee, with all the bling of Chinatown blended with hipster soul. The cocktail list is sick! We enjoyed a few interesting cocktails: 5 spiced bourbon sour, T-Hawk, and Lucky Buddha beer (for my mom).
Oh, and I must mention bar rail is $4 a shot! Also the music… Oh it’s so sexy-cool. A mix of deep house, pop, old school rap and little dub step. Modelesque servers greet you in fashionably industry-friendly clothing.
We waste no time in ordering. Because I love chips and dip I must order them whenever they are on the menu. Here they change daily. Tonight it’s house made hummus and edamame sided with corn and wonton chips – very tasty. Ham Bao Ger is RIDICULOUS and BETTER than the McDonald’s BIG MAC (in my opinion): secret sauce, pickles, and lettuce. KPC is very spicy hot; nevertheless, the small pieces of crispy chicken tossed in gochujang, pineapple, and peppers earns a memorable spot in my mind!
Bacon & Liver Terrine becomes so flavourful with herbaceous cilantro, sided with roasted baguette slathered in salted garlic truffle butter finishes with a grainy mustard chili heat. What a wonderful experience!
A great place for first dates.
