Back again to dine Seawitch. I’m here with my boyfriend to enjoy fish & chips, one of the few places in the city that fry’s fish in beef tallow. It’s around 6:30pm on a Sunday night. The kitchen closes at 7 pm so it’s nice and quiet.
Sea Witch is licensed for beer and wine, however, we stuck with sodas. Todd ordered Boylan Birch Rootbeer that was wonderfully refreshing: starts out spicy, ends peppermintly sweet. We shared our dishes tonight. Halibut sided with thickly cut fresh potato is slightly dry.
Arctic Char is a better choice: crush through the tallow fried batter into a moist and flaky interior. Golden battered onion rings – so greasy, so good. A bowl of coleslaw at $4 can easily feed two. Balanced with acid and a touch of creaminess and a must.
