I don’t drink coffee so I some invited friends and family over for a tasting party. Today we sampled Meitta’s Dark Roast. Did you know that coffee is the most commonly consumed beverage in Canada, with 84% of Canadians saying they drink the beverage. 67% of Canadians aged 18-79 drink coffee daily. Coffee drinkers consume on average, 16.6 cups of coffee per week, or 2.4 cups of coffee per day. Canadians drink 2.1 billion servings of coffee a year, putting us second only to the Italians in drinking coffee restaurants. Wow!
With that said let us make some coffee! We made a large pot and a personal cup using Melitta’s porcelain pour over coffee brewer. The finer we ground the 100% Arabica coffee beans, the richer the brew tasted.
After searching the world for the very best of the best gourmet coffee beans Melitta recently introduced their super premium World Harvest Coffee Collection. All five of which are 100% Fair Trade certified, which means Melitta and its consumers support a better life for farming families through fair prices, direct trade, community development and environmental sustainability.
Back to our tasting party… The consensus is that the coffee actually tastes much lighter tasting than a normal dark roast; kind of how a Guinness looks super heavy and rich BUT tastes light. I would suggest using more than your usual amount of beans to get that coffee buzz. Grind the beans extra fine to release the complex taste of the rich dark roast. Everyone agreed the roast is more like a Tim Hortons coffee rather than Starbucks, which is a more intense coffee.
Available in a variety of options, Melitta delivers top quality to all its consumers. It offers whole bean, roasted and ground, organic and fair traded as well as Keurig Style Single Serve options for all your coffee needs. Keeping the environment in mind, the single-serve coffee capsules are eco-friendly and use 40% less plastic! They also donate two trees to the Canadian Forestry Association for every one they use. So while making the most of your Me-time with Melitta, rest assured you’re not only enjoying a great coffee, you can do so guilt free.
They say you can always tell what’s important to someone by how they spend their time. Well, for over 100 years Melitta has spent their time carefully crafting the perfect cup of coffee. In today’s busy world, when all the stars finally align and you find yourself with some time just for you, that’s when you deserve the very best. @melittaCA
