Each restaurant is unique in decor. Isn’t that a reason to explore each one?
That’s up to you.
However, not all are at the same level. I love the spot on Queen Street (see my other review) because it has a warm patio filled with lively area locals to chat with. Nando’s in Kennedy Commons is more like a lunch, I-work-around-the-area crowd.
Don’t get me wrong, the food is good. Grab take out. Have a farewell lunch. A colleagues birthday. Oh, and a patio that looks out onto an infinite skyline of gravel. No warmth at the strip mall. But hey, why not try it anyway.
So of course I went with my colleagues for a fond farewell lunch – twenty of us at a long table. The deal is: walk in, go to the register, place your order, pay, then server brings food. The main menu is mostly the same with a few options that differ from resto to resto. Resto means restaurant if you didn’t know. Laziness to write the whole word or just be cool. Yeah whatever.
The dishes. Chicken liver is nice, lightly blackened, sided with garlic bread.
The chicken wings were dry and grilled. A must order.
Coleslaw isn’t bad. The dressing is actually interesting because it is a balance between creamy and acidic.
Bottom line: it’s Nando’s Chicken – so give it a try!
